The agents of La Poste do not all fall under the same retirement scheme. Depending on whether a postal worker is a civil servant or a private law employee, their retirement fund, contributions, and rights differ radically. This duality, inherited from the transformation of La Poste into a public limited company, remains a source of confusion for many employees currently working or nearing retirement.

Civil servant or employee: two distinct retirement schemes at La Poste

La Poste still employs agents under civil servant status, recruited before the end of the internal public service competitions. These agents fall under the State Retirement Service (SRE), which manages civil pensions. Their retirement is calculated based on the indexed salary of the last six months, according to the rules of the Civil and Military Pensions Code.

Private law employees, recruited under contract since the transformation of the company’s status, depend on the general scheme of Social Security (Cnav) for their basic retirement. Their supplementary retirement is managed by Agirc-Arrco, as in any private company. The calculation is based on the 25 best years of gross salary and a points system for the supplementary pension.

Understanding the retirement system of La Poste therefore requires precisely identifying one’s status, as the contacts, online portals, and administrative procedures change drastically.

Career tracking portals: SRE, ENSAP, and i-Retraite

La Poste civil servants consult their pension file via the ENSAP (Secure Digital Space for Public Agents). This portal allows access to the career statement, simulates the pension amount, and directly submits the retirement request online.

Employees, on the other hand, go through the info-retraite.fr site (My Retirement Account) to consult their inter-scheme statement. This statement aggregates the validated quarters with Cnav and the points acquired with Agirc-Arrco.

The internal portal i-Retraite (i-retraite.rh.laposte.fr) centralizes information specific to La Poste for both statuses. It groups regulatory news, procedural tutorials, and end-of-career arrangements specific to the company. The internal HR circuit (Click’RH or netRH depending on the case) remains the entry point for administrative requests related to departure.

Progressive retirement for postal workers: conditions since September 2025

Progressive retirement allows for a reduction in working hours while receiving a portion of the pension. Since September 1, 2025, the access age has been lowered to 60 years, including for civil servants. This measure, set by decree n°2025-681 of July 15, 2025, directly affects postal workers of both statuses.

The conditions to be met are as follows:

  • Be at least 60 years old at the time of the application
  • Justify at least 150 quarters of retirement insurance across all schemes
  • For civil servants, reduce their activity between 50% and 90% of full-time
  • Obtain the employer’s or administration’s agreement, which is not automatic

This last point deserves attention. Unlike a definitive retirement liquidation, progressive retirement remains subject to the employer’s agreement. For a La Poste civil servant, the request must be addressed to the administration with a notice period of up to six months. The procedure varies according to the status and applicable HR circuit.

Suspension of the 2023 reform: what concrete effects for postal workers

The suspension of the 2023 pension reform schedule produces varying effects depending on the status and the effective date of the pension. For pensions effective from September 1, 2026, some generations benefit from a lower legal age and insurance duration than those initially planned by the reform schedule.

This situation must be verified separately according to the affiliation scheme:

  • Civil servants fall under the SRE, whose rules are adjusted by decree
  • Employees fall under Cnav, with a schedule that may differ
  • The CNRACL (for territorial and hospital civil servants) has published its own adjustments for pensions effective September 1, 2026

For civil servant postal workers nearing retirement, this suspension may change the adapted liquidation date by several months. Consulting their statement on ENSAP and using the pension simulator remains the most reliable approach to measure the real impact on their individual situation.

The coexistence of two schemes within the same company makes each situation unique. A civil servant postal worker three years from retirement and an employee of the same age do not have the same contact person, calculation method, or end-of-career arrangements. Checking one’s status, identifying the fund, and regularly consulting their career statement on the correct portal remain the three actions that prevent unpleasant surprises at the time of liquidation.
