The price of a conservatory depends on three main factors: the cost of materials (aluminum, wood, PVC), labor, and local regulatory constraints. Waiting until 2026 to launch your project is based on the assumption that one of these factors will decrease. Current market signals do not confirm this assumption.
Cost of conservatory materials: stabilization, not a decrease
The national index BT01, which tracks the evolution of construction costs in France, shows a stabilization of material prices for several quarters. Aluminum, wood, and PVC no longer exhibit the sharp increases seen after 2020, but they are not decreasing either.
This rigidity can be explained by structural factors: energy production costs, transportation, and persistent tension on certain raw materials. A quote requested today for an aluminum conservatory with double glazing will not be significantly cheaper in six months or a year.
To compare price ranges per m² based on configurations, the articles on Habitat Guides detail budgets by type of material and surface area.
The real price lever remains the choice of glazing and roofing. A solar control glazing is more expensive at the order stage but reduces the need for air conditioning and motorized blinds. Thinking in terms of total cost, rather than gross purchase price, avoids unpleasant surprises in use.

MaPrimeRénov’ 2026 and conservatories: tightening aid
The idea of waiting to benefit from more generous aid clashes with the opposite trajectory of the MaPrimeRénov’ scheme. Starting in early 2026, this aid is focusing on homes classified E, F, or G in the energy performance diagnosis (DPE). The ceilings for eligible expenses for extensive renovations have been lowered.
- The ceiling for a gain of 2 DPE classes is set at 30,000 euros excluding tax, and for a gain of 3 classes or more at 40,000 euros excluding tax. The previous ceiling of 70,000 euros excluding tax for a gain of 4 classes has been removed.
- The 10% “energy sieve exit” bonus no longer exists in the scales applicable since January 2026.
- Applications for MaPrimeRénov’ have been reduced by four times during certain recent periods, indicating more restrictive access to the scheme.
A conservatory is not directly fundable by MaPrimeRénov’. However, these restrictions reduce households’ ability to simultaneously finance the insulation or heating of an additional glazed space. Waiting does not improve the overall budget equation of an extension project.
Development tax and floor area: the forgotten item
Every conservatory increases the floor area of the home. From 5 m², a prior declaration of work is mandatory. Beyond 20 m² (or 40 m² in urban areas covered by a local urban plan), a building permit is required.
The development tax is calculated on the created area, with a variable municipal rate. This fiscal item, often absent from quotes, can represent several hundred euros. It will not decrease by waiting: municipalities have no incentive to lower these rates.
If the total area of the house exceeds 150 m² after adding the conservatory, hiring an architect becomes mandatory. This regulatory threshold adds a design cost that must be integrated from the quoting phase.

Insulation and glazing: decide now rather than wait for a hypothetical discount
The comfort of a conservatory directly depends on its thermal performance. A poorly insulated conservatory becomes unusable for several months a year, regardless of its purchase price. The choice between single glazing, double glazing, and triple glazing with enhanced insulation determines the energy bill over the entire lifespan of the structure.
Manufacturers of high-performance glazing are not announcing any price reductions. The demand for insulating joinery remains strong due to thermal regulations and the increasing requirements of property buyers. A project launched today benefits from the same technologies as a project launched in twelve months, at the same price or almost.
Conservatory roofing: sandwich panel or glazing
The roof represents the main thermal bridge of a conservatory. Two options dominate the market:
- The insulating sandwich panel (polyurethane foam between two aluminum facings) offers the best thermal performance, at the expense of zenithal brightness.
- The glazed roof with solar control treatment preserves natural light but requires an interior or exterior blind to limit summer overheating.
- Some projects combine both, with a glazed perimeter band and an insulated roof core, for a compromise between comfort and brightness.
The decision is made based on the orientation of the conservatory and the intended use (living room, office, winter garden). This technical choice weighs more on the budget than the project’s launch date.
Custom conservatory quotes: what really affects the price
Rather than waiting for a hypothetical decrease, comparing several quotes remains the most effective way to control the budget. The discrepancies between craftsmen for the same surface area and material can be considerable.
The factors that truly affect the price are the complexity of the shape (rectangular attached conservatory, L-shaped, Victorian), the type of foundation required by the soil, the quality of the chosen aluminum or wood profiles, and the level of interior finishing (flooring, lighting, blinds).
Requesting a detailed quote item by item allows for comparing what is comparable. A global price per m² often masks significant differences in services regarding insulation, hardware, or the ten-year guarantee.
Postponing a conservatory project in hopes of a better price amounts to betting against market trends that show no signs of decline. Materials are stagnant, aid is tightening, and local taxation is not decreasing. The real lever remains the technical choice (glazing, roofing, orientation) and the competition among several craftsmen based on a precise specifications document.
